Pinner resident Praskash Dasawni MBE featured on PinnerNews cover of the July edition after he ran two marathons in the area to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support UK.
The total raised has now surpassed a landmark of £5,000, including gift aid, and he is overwhelmed by the support from the Pinner community and wider.
Now on an incredible fourth marathon to continue the fundraising, Prakash MBE recalled one particular donation that made his day back in July.
Prakash said: “I’m so thankful to the 100+ people who have supported me in this campaign by making 135 donations via the donation page – some doing so twice or even three times.
“Each donation has been truly heart-warming and welcomed. The donation that touched me the most was from an eight-year-old girl, who is a pupil at my wife Joanne’s school.
“Sadly, due to the child’s multiple congenital health problems, doctors are pessimistic about her life chances after she underwent life-saving open heart surgery, as I did when I was five and again years later as an adult and parent.
“She was chuffed to meet an adult who’d survived for so many years after heart surgery, it seemed to light her up with hope. She donated £15 of her own money and it blew me away.”
Every penny raised buys a precious moment for the Macmillan nurses, and the fundraising page is still open for donations.
