Radlett & District Museum has been awarded Accreditation by Arts Council England, a highly acclaimed benchmark for well-run museums and galleries.
This recognition shows that the volunteer-run museum on Watling Street is managed in a professional and well-kept way. It was also praised for the preservation and care of its collections.
Radlett & District Museum told RADLETTnews that the award is “especially meaningful” as it fulfils one of the museum’s founding aims, which is to safeguard the local history collection of the late historian and Radlett resident Philip Eastburn.
They said: “His vision of a local museum has now been realised, with the museum officially recognised as part of the national heritage sector.”
Emmie Kell, director of museums and cultural property at Arts Council England, said: “We are delighted that Radlett & District Museum has been successful in gaining their Accreditation status.
“This means their collections will be looked after and maintained, offering inspiration, enjoyment and learning for the local community and visitors to enjoy now and in the future.”
