INSPIRATIONAL: Croxley councillor to take on walking marathon

Published on: 3rd August 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Croxley councillor is taking on a walking marathon to raise money for charity.

Councillor Chris Lloyd will be taking on Jeff Stelling’s Football March, a fundraising event organised by the former Sky Sports presenter in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, on Sunday, September 17.

This year’s event features a 26.2-mile walk between Wembley Stadium and Wycombe Wanderers FC’s stadium, Adams Park, in honour of BBC Breakfast presenter and Wycombe fan Bill Turnbull, who died of prostate cancer last year.

Cllr Lloyd said: “My brother has had treatment for prostate cancer in recent years. My father and my father-in-law both had prostate cancer. I currently have a friend receiving treatment.
“The money I raise will help to fund life-saving research to save and improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer. It will be a long day for a worthwhile cause. If each of you reading this gave £5, you would help me exceed my target.”

Cllr Lloyd is aiming to raise £600. Anyone wanting to join himon a training walk can contact him on clloyd4517@aol.com or to donate, visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jeff-stellings-football-march-2023-32560
