The headteacher of Cherry Tree Primary School in Garston will run the London Marathon on April 23 to raise money for the school.
At the time of writing, Cheska Tyler has raised 50 per cent of her £3,000 target and has received “lots of support” from the school.
She said: “This year, our budgets have been crippled by additional staffing costs and energy bills. I’m hoping to use it to give the children an experience they haven’t had before, like taking them to the seaside as some children have never been.”
Talking about her training, Cheska added: “It’s been really good. I run a running club with the children in Year 5 – they’ve been really supporting me. We’ve also got a staff running club who run every week and it helps me to train. I’ve had a lot of support and encouragement from everyone and I’m hoping some come and support me on the day.”
This isn’t the first time Cheska has completed a marathon. Back in 2020, she took part in the virtual marathon and raised more than £4,000 for her former school.
