Gagan Mohindra, MP for South West Hertfordshire, has announced the winners and runners-up of his Essay Competition.
The competition launched in March when the MP visited schools across South West Hertfordshire, including in Chorleywood and Rickmansworth, and encouraged students to get involved by writing a thought-provoking essay of up to 1,000 words.
Rosie, a student from The Reach Free School in Rickmansworth, was crowned the winner and subsequently spent a week in Westminster taking part in work experience with the MP.
Mr Mohindra MP said: “The standard of entries was incredibly high. Rosie made a brilliant impression throughout the week, and I wish her every success.”
Nikita, a Year 12 student at St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood, was named as a runner-up.
A spokesperson for St Clement Danes School said: “Nikita’s insightful and well-argued piece stood out among many strong entries from across the region. Well done to Nikita for her achievement and for representing the school with such maturity.”
