A boutique shop in Chalfont St Peter has cited increasing costs as the reason for its closure.
Trunk Lifestyle Boutique, which also has a branch in Amersham, set up its first store in Market Place, Chalfont St Peter, a decade ago. On March 1, the shop took to social media to announce that they would be closing at the end of the month.
They said: “The past 24 months have been very challenging for us as a business and, with increasing costs and changes, we have decided now is the best time to say goodbye and focus on our Amersham store and hopefully another branch in the near future.”
Residents rushed to express their disappointment that the store was closing, with one saying: “We’re really losing the unique little shops.”
Parish councillor Karen Dickson said: “The loss of yet another shop in our high street is incredibly sad. Shop owners invest so much of themselves in trying to keep their business alive, and we all lose when they close their doors for the last time. Please try to support our local businesses wherever you can; they need our support to pull through.”
