A new automated external defibrillator (AED) was installed at Breakspeare Community Preschool in Abbots Langley last month, thanks to a local charity.
The AED was acquired through the school’s successful fundraising drive, generously match-funded by Wayne’s Fund. The charity was set up following Wayne’s death from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome at the age of just 30 in 2005. His family was inspired to do something in his name that would make sure that others would never have to go through what they did.
Over the last two decades, the charity has delivered more than 100 defibrillators to sports clubs, schools, and more across the local area. They also won the My Local Hero Award, hosted by My Local News, in November 2024.
Preschool manager Lyn Collier said: “The safety of our children and everyone on our premises is our top priority, and this defibrillator provides an invaluable layer of protection. We are incredibly grateful to Wayne’s Fund charity and all our amazing families for their support in achieving this.”
