IMPROVED CONNECTION: Community celebrates 100 years of Watford and Croxley Metropolitan line stations

The community celebrated the centenary of Watford and Croxley stations last month, marking 100 years since the stations first opened on the Metropolitan line back in 1925.

The celebration was a collaboration between Transport for London (TfL), Hertfordshire County Council and the Museum of Watford, and took place on Sunday, November 2.

A variety of free events were held, including historical tours of the stations, the chance to create Metro-land postcards, meet and greet with the station manager, and careers information for those interested in working for TfL.

The Museum of Watford transformed the passenger waiting room into a living exhibition celebrating 100 years of both stations, and visitors stepped back in time to explore how the Metropolitan line helped shape Watford’s growth.

Emma Strain, TfL’s customer director, said: “Croxley and Watford stations have helped connect Hertfordshire and northwest London into central London for 100 years, playing an important part in creating more jobs and opportunities for those in the surrounding county.”
