A student from Hatch End is calling on the help of Pinner residents to answer a set of questions for her university dissertation.
Amber Iglesia, a university student at the London School of Economics is researching public expectations of local news and is asking MyPinnerNews readers to provide their opinions.
Geography and French student Amber wants to analyse MyPinnerNews’ role in the community and gain an understanding of what people want from the magazine.
Amber said: “Local news has an important place in the community and often goes underappreciated in the face of national news. Especially with the pandemic, there is such a need for unity in the community and local news provides that.
“I think my project is important, as in previous research there has been little attempt to engage directly with the community and understand what readers want from local news.
“I have chosen to focus my specific analysis on the Pinner magazine as my parents and I read it every month, and we have received the publication for as long as I can remember. It will be interesting to analyse what the public believe local news should be and whether this is being fulfilled.
“It is the community that drives the news so I want to understand the voices of people in Pinner as much as possible, it would be great to get their feedback. ”
