Volunteers have been channelling their inner Alan Titchmarsh to help transform Garston Station into a wildlife paradise.
Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership (ALCRP) shared that their volunteers and members from the Department for Transport Rail Services Team had joined forces in May to work on the station.
They laid roadstone which will be the base for raised beds, helped with weeding, picking, making pathways and planting wildflowers.
Volunteers also took part in a handprint flower craft activity. The incredible artworks will be displayed in the garden to commemorate everyone’s help.
A spokesperson for ALCRP shared to their Facebook page: “Huge thanks to volunteers from Network Rail today for their help laying our pathways and more at Garston Station Wildlife Garden. It’s coming along in leaps and bounds now!
“Another great event in Community Rail Week, as we showcase all the good things that the good folk in Community Rail get up to all year round – connecting communities with their railway.”
