A photo of a Croxley cricketer experiencing a painful moment after a failed catch has gone viral online.
Village resident Nick Stack was playing in a 20/20 tournament cup final for Croxley Guild Cricket Club, who were taking on Wheathampstead when the photo was taken.
Club officials have emphasised that Mr Stack has otherwise had a fantastic season for the club as one of their star players, but on this fateful day, destiny was not on his side. He dropped three catches, one of which landed in his nether regions, snapped by official photographer Martin Critcher.
Not only that, but afterwards when going out to bat, he was unfortunate enough to get a golden duck, cricket jargon for dismissed after the first ball bowled to them in their innings.
It was the first time Mr Stack’s parents had seen him play cricket for the club, and Croxley Guild would sadly go on to lose the final as well.
Since being posted online, the image has gone viral amongst the online cricket community, with thousands of views and many jokes being made.
Despite his newfound (and perhaps unwanted) online fame, Mr Stack has apparently taken the whole incident well, with him no doubt being comforted by the incident by his two children, who ran onto the field to give him a big hug afterwards.
