Burglaries are a concern for most homeowners, but for Chalfont St Giles residents, this could be for a good reason.
The village has been named as Buckinghamshire’s burglary hotspot in a study which analysed quotes from MoneySuperMarket home insurance.
For every 1,000 quotes for Chalfont St Giles residents, 24.88 claims are made.
In Little Chalfont, rates are not much lower, with 21.13 claims per 1,000 quotes.
In Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross, claims sit at 17.90.
MoneySuperMarket shared some tips for preventing thefts, including fitting decent locks for windows and doors, installing cameras and automatic sensor lights, and keeping valuables and keys away from windows.
Insurance expect Alicia Hempsted shared: “While it can be startling to see it laid out like this, it’s important to remember that taking simple steps to secure your home can help reduce the likelihood of being burgled.
“Installing a burglar alarm or upgrading old windows and doors can help bring your quote down in price while also making your home more secure.”
