The Northwood Lions, among other residents and councillors, will be attending the annual Remembrance Service at the War Memorial on Sunday, November 9, starting at 11am.
The service is an important occasion for the local community to honour those who have served in various conflicts, including the First and Second World Wars, and draws residents of all ages wishing to pay their respects.
Representatives from the NATO Base, local clergy, and youth organisations such as Scouts and Guides will also take part, demonstrating the wide community involvement that has become a tradition at the event.
During the ceremony, wreaths will be laid by members of local clubs and associations as a mark of respect for the fallen.
The service typically concludes with a two-minute silence held at the 11th hour on November 9 as well as on November 11, Armistice Day.
The annual gathering proves to be more than a ceremony, as it reminds us of the importance of remembrance, community solidarity, and collective gratitude for those who have served.
