Further fundraising events are planned in the bid to raise money to restore a bell tower which has been part of Bushey’s history for 700 years.
As reported earlier this year, the bell tower at St James’ Church is in need of vital restoration work to preserve the landmark.
After a busy summer of fundraising which included a Coronation Lunch in May, a stall at Reveley Garden Fete, one at Bushey Festival, a Bridge and Tea afternoon, and a quiz at the Blue Check restaurant in September, the fundraisers are well on their way to hitting their target of £30,000.
Gay Butler of the fundraising committee said: “It is with thanks to the Bushey community, local businesses and generous donations that we are on course to reach almost £10,000 by the end of the year; hopefully with continuing support for our forthcoming events.”
Bushey Museum is holding an exhibition of artwork of St James Church, Bushey from October 21 to May 2024, and is hosting a craft fair November 11 to 12, with both events supporting the tower restoration fundraiser.
