HISTORY ARCHIVES: Ovaltine workers invited to share their memories at upcoming event in Kings Langley

Published on: 8th October 2024   |   By: Ellie Rose   |   Category: Uncategorized

Dacorum Heritage is holding an event for former employees of the Ovaltine factory in Kings Langley on Saturday, October 26.

Former staff members are invited to recall their time working at the factory and share stories of the historic objects cared for by Dacorum Heritage.

Lauren Wilson, Dacorum Heritage’s Ovaltine project assistant, said: “You might have worked for Ovaltine for a year, for 20 years, on the production line or in the offices. Sharing your memories will help us to better understand the objects in our collection and the impact of Ovaltine in Dacorum.”

Dacorum Heritage has stored the Ovaltine archive, which spans the opening of the factory in 1913 to its closure in 2002, for almost 20 years.

Objects range from packaging and office documents to advertising artwork and films.

Dacorum Heritage is now engaged in a project to increase engagement and digitisation of this archive, thanks to funding from the Garfield Weston Foundation and Arts Council England.

The event is free and will take place between 2pm to 4.30pm at Christ Church Baptist, The Nap. To pre-register, visit www.tickettailor.com/events/dacorumheritage/1375126
