The leader of Hertsmere Borough Council has collected his MBE at Buckingham Palace.
Morris Bright received his MBE on March 8 from Prince Charles and said the day would live long in his memory.
He explained: “Prince Charles was delightful and took time to speak to each person who he gave an award to.
I told him I was rather pleased that it was him for it had been Prince Charles who opened the two George Lucas sound stages at Elstree Studios back in 1999 and that the council and residents were still benefiting from the council-owned studios which was paying for local services. He said it was very enterprising and smiled. And then with a shake of the hand it was all over.
“We weren’t allowed phones in the palace which was great. Everyone could just enjoy the day and focus on the pomp and the ceremony of this very special occasion.”
