People across the Chalfonts have come together to provide urgent supplies to support Ukraine during the ongoing conflict in the region.
Residents Natalie Benyon and Jules Hargreaves have coordinated a local effort, collecting toiletries, baby formula, first aid kids, hats and gloves, blankets, torches and more.
Jules told ChalfontNews: “I have a friend in Poland who is assisting people with crossing into Poland and providing emergency assistance and he has highlighted how much support they still need.
“People in our local communities have always been very generous when it comes to helping others, I saw evidence of this during lockdown and also with the foodbank collection we currently run in Little Chalfont. Rather than standing by I decided to actually do something tangible.
“We now have a core group of volunteers assisting with the collections and two drivers, both serving police officers, who will be driving to aid centres in Poland to deliver the supplies. Our first load will be delivered to a centre the week commencing March 14.”
The volunteers will be collecting donations weekly at the Scout Hut at St Georges Church, The White Lion Road, Little Chalfont. The next collection is Friday, March 4 between 4-8pm.
