HEALTHY HUB: Council scheme on hand to offer health advice to Three Rivers residents

Published on: 19th January 2023   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Three Rivers residents can benefit from advice on how to stop smoking and NHS health checks as part of the Healthy Hub Three Rivers scheme.

Starting this month, the Healthy Hub Three Rivers scheme is on hand to help residents make 2023 their year of health and is launching new support services to benefit local health and wellbeing needs.

The Healthy Hub project has been running since 2019 and provides dedicated local venues which act as a one-stop shop to provide local residents with access to a wide range of services and support.

Cllr Chris Lloyd, the council’s Lead Member for Leisure which includes Health, said: “Supporting our residents to stay happy and healthy is a key priority for Three Rivers District Council. Over the last few years we’ve had to deal with and are still dealing with a number of challenging events that have had a huge impact on both our physical and mental health.

“In Three Rivers, we’re doing all we can to promote ways of seeking help and to provide residents with local access to support their health and wellbeing we are working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council Public Health to provide Healthy Hubs in the district.”

A free Stop Smoking Service offers trained advisers with one-to-one support to help residents stop smoking. Residents can also book on to NHS Health Checks which can help lower a person’s risk of developing type two diabetes, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and (certain types of) dementia.
