Health minister visits Stanmore hospital

The Secretary of State for Health visited Stanmore hospital yesterday (Thursday) to discuss the future of the dated hospital site. Jeremy Hunt was joined by local MP Bob Blackman to discuss the ongoing redevelopment of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. In the closed meeting between the two discussions were made over the Brockley Hill site addressing the current and future steps of the redevelopment to improve the old buildings. Mr Hunt said: “What we have here is a world class hospital operating in a not so world class facilities. “We need to update the building and bring it into the 21st century, bringing in safer surgeries and recognising what needs to done. “For future development I will help the hospital build a business case, with the support of Bob, which will be recognised by the NHS. Once we get a business play we can get it signed off by the NHS Trust Development authority in order to further developments.”
