Haydon School in Pinner held its first Alumni Reunion, inviting students new and old to come and enjoy talks from a range of guest speakers.

Attendees on May 21 heard talks from various long-serving staff members, including headteacher Mr Jones and assistant head, Mrs Wall, along with director of Eastcote Cricket Club, Marc Broom and keynote speaker, television presenter Sonali Shah and – both alumni of the school.

The attendees also had the opportunity to tour the school and see some of the school’s new developments and familiar areas.

It was the first time Sonali had returned to the school in 21 years, after she attended for Sixth Form in 1998.

Sonali, who also went to Nower Hill High School, said: “I honestly have nothing but very happy memories of this place. It was very welcoming and I just remember laughing a lot. Those are the overriding memories of my time here; how much we laughed, how much we enjoyed being at school and hanging out.”

She also spoke about how, while she was initially studying to be a doctor, it was some of her experiences while at Haydon School which put her on a different journalistic path.
