A Pinner resident was nominated for a Harrow’s Heroes awards for her tireless dedication to charity and the village community.

Delia Cazzato was celebrated as one of the nominees for the awards held by Harrow Council on September 22.

Although not making it through to the finals, Delia was recognised for her volunteer work at Oxfam Pinner and her community work which she balances alongside being a full-time carer to her son.

Speaking to PinnerNews, Delia said she wasn’t expecting the nomination but was pleasantly surprised.

She said: “It was lovely to be nominated. I was really surprised to see Finley had nominated me.

“I was really touched. There are a lot of volunteers who have been there longer; I have been volunteering for about eight years.”

Delia is also active on Twitter and regularly shouts about what is great about living in Pinner and being part of the community.

She said: “I’ve been trying to put Pinner on the map a little. I do love being part of the community. Even though a lot of my time is spent being a carer, I have found the time to be part of the community.”

Finley Harnett, who nominated Delia, said: “Delia has inspired me with her outstanding contribution to Pinner. A full-time mum and carer to her disabled son Tony, Delia has been active in the community for years.

“She has volunteered at the Pinner Oxfam charity shop for eight years now, offering outstanding service to the customers, supporting less experienced volunteers, and being a friendly point of contact for elderly residents who appreciate the company, all while supporting a fantastic charity.

“Achieving all this while looking after Tony is truly inspiring and is testament to her compassionate and caring nature.”
