A Hemel Hempstead resident celebrated her 100th birthday this month at Water Mill Care Home.
Norma enjoyed her special day with friends and family, with her son flying over from Spain and her daughter travelling from America.
The celebration was a three-day affair and included afternoon teas and lunches in the private dining room, as well as a coffee morning hosted by the residents.
Norma was born in Northamptonshire and her father was the chairmen of Calor Gas, a leading gas company. She was formerly a Wren in the Second World War, where she was stationed just outside of Liverpool and then in Windsor.
A care home worker said: “She is a very sociable lady and while married hosted many parties and events in their house. Norma has lots of friends who visit often. She loves to go to our salon each week to have her hair done, she still takes great pride in her appearance.”
“She enjoys playing bingo and indoor French Boules. She enjoys doing quizzes and playing a game called ‘Who Am I’ where one person is given a job or famous name and the other residents have to guess who you are by asking questions. She enjoys the entertainers we have in each week and always comes along to watch.”
