A Berkhamsted care home resident had a 100th birthday to remember despite the lockdown restrictions.
Lucy Lee, who turned 100 on Friday, November 13, was thrown a special celebration by staff at Ashlyns Care Home, which is on Chesham Road. Lucy also received a special card from HM The Queen.
While she wasn’t able to see her family due to lockdown restrictions, staff at the care home did everything they could do make it a special occasion.
A spokesperson for Ashlyns said: “We wanted to make her birthday as special as we could for her as we were in lockdown, so we filled her room with balloons and made a special cake and most of the staff came along to her room to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.
“It’s very hard to celebrate when you can’t see your family, but they all phoned Lucy, and we tried to make it nice.”
