GUN DRAMA: Schoolboy threatened with BB gun in Bedmond attempted robbery

Published on: 17th December 2023   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Officers have identified and arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted robbery in Bedmond.

At around 3.25pm on Thursday, November 23, a 10-year-old boy was approached by three teenagers on bicycles as he walked along the High Street.

The group began to engage the boy in conversation. As they approached the vicinity of Bedmond Stores, one of the males reportedly produced a weapon from a backpack and asked the victim to remove his bag.

As the victim did so, the teenager then told him to put his bag back on and the boy left the area. No injuries were reported, and nothing was taken.

Following extensive enquiries, a BB gun was recovered from an address and a teenager has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm. They are currently in police custody at this time.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Keene said: “I understand this incident will have concerned our local community, but I hope this arrest provides some reassurance. We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public.

“Our enquiries are continuing, and I encourage anyone with any information to please contact me via Stuart.Keene@herts.police.uk. If you were driving in the area and have a dash cam fitted, please review any footage and contact us if you have captured something of note.”
