Campaigners who rejoiced after plans to demolish a historic house in Abbots Langley were rejected could be set for a new battle as an appeal has been lodged.
Last month, Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) refused plans to demolish 78 Gallows Hill Lane so four two-storey semi-detached homes could be built on the site.
The decision was met with joy by campaigners, but now the saga could be set to continue with an appeal officially submitted on Thursday, March 13.
The reason for the appeal is not known, as at the time of ABBOTSnews going to print no new documents had been submitted to the application.
In the meantime, campaigners will continue to try to protect the building.
Speaking after the original refusal, councillor Elinor Gazzard said: “The aim is to ensure the building can have stronger protection against any future planning applications.
“It doesn’t guarantee the safety of the house unfortunately. We want to make it locally listed.”
SLG Designs Limited, who applied for the plan, and the plan’s agent, TAS Architects, have been contacted for comment.
