Parliamentary Spokesperson Clare De Silva has welcomed the Conservative Government’s growth plan, helping people across St Albans to keep more of their hard-earned money.
On Friday, September 23, the Conservative Government delivered The Growth Plan, which has seen National Insurance and Income Tax cuts.
Clare De Silva said: “I welcome the Chancellor’s measures which will mean families across St Albans seeing their energy bills cut by up to £1,400 through the Energy Price Guarantee. I know that many businesses across St Albans have been concerned about the impact of rising prices so it is very good news that businesses, schools and charities eligible for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme will have their bills slashed.
“This is a Conservative Government that knows that going for growth, supporting business and giving people more money in their pockets through tax cuts will transform this country and be a huge boost to St Albans. Following the impact of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor are doing everything they can to unleash opportunity.
“The Chancellor also confirmed people across St Albans will benefit from personal tax cuts – cutting National Insurance contributions by 1.25 per cent, putting an extra £330 a year in people’s pockets and helping them with cost-of-living pressures. Similarly cutting the basic rate of tax to 19p will benefit hard-working families across the constituency.”
