Residents and avid gardeners looking to put down roots in Croxley went along to the Barton Way Allotments open morning on Saturday, July 19.
The annual event invites the public to visit the site which is normally only accessible to its 160 plotholders.
Despite a number of thunderstorms, visitors were still able to enjoy popular stalls like a taster table, plant stall, and produce table which featured a selection of fruits and vegetables donated by the ‘allotmenteers’.
A trio who really know their onions, Justine Osler, Paul Tublin and Jo Floyd, took a number of visitors on tours of the allotment site.
Committee member Justine told CROXLEYnews: “People were so interested in what is grown on the allotment, and the chickens kept by plotholders were also very popular with the children.”
Lettings secretary Paul added: “The popularity of the allotment shows no signs of abating, with more people continuing to add their name to the waiting list, which currently stands at over 50.”
