GREEN THUMBS: Croxley residents encouraged to help water trees in hot weather

Published on: 2nd July 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Croxley Green residents are being asked to help water newly planted street trees during hot weather.

Local resident Jennie Martin noticed the trees near her house had been drying out, and is urging her neighbours to adopt any tree close to their home to help them survive the summer.

Jennie said: “We were delighted to see the new trees. They looked healthy and were very well planted. I want to ensure they survive the very dry weather.

“It would be great if Croxley residents could water the trees near their houses during the summer. Otherwise, the young trees will simply die.”

Green Party councillor Narinder Sian said: “It’s such a shame the trees are not adequately watered and being allowed to dry out. Trees are essential for people’s wellbeing. They help to increase biodiversity and create better neighbourhoods.

“Trees need to be watered during the first two summers after planting. Remember, weekly drenching is better than daily sprinkling.”
