A total of 700 new homes could be built on green belt land in Bushey.
Hertsmere councillors have said they were informed by Clarion Housing Group that they hoped to build new homes, a primary school, retail and office space, a community hub, and an 18-hectare park to the north of Farm Way.
Currently, the land is owned by Masonic Charitable Foundation, which confirmed the plans but shared that no formal documents have been signed.
The developer has informed councillors that designs are being prepared and a community engagement event will be held to discuss the plans after the summer holiday.
They will also be submitting pre-application documents to Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC).
The site was removed from the area’s Draft Local Plan earlier this year following protests against building on the green belt.
In a statement, Clarion Housing Group shared: “It is a unique opportunity within Hertsmere, which will benefit existing and new residents.”
HBC and Masonic Charitable Foundation have been contacted for comment.
