GREAT WORK: Theatre in St Albans receives award for its response to the pandemic

In recent months many have feared for the future of the arts industry as venues across the nation were forced to shut their doors.

As many of them slowly began to open, several venues across the country, including the Abbey Theatre in St Albans, have been awarded the See It Safely mark.

This title has been awarded to venues who have worked hard to comply with the latest government and industry guidelines, ensuring the safety of customers and staff and allowed the show to go on.

Tina Swain, theatre manager, said that the award is a stamp on the success of the measures they have in place.

She said: “We are members of UK Theatre who, together with the Society of London Theatre, have launched this project. The mark certifies that we are complying with the latest government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring the safety our staff and audiences.

“Being granted this award is more than our hygiene, risk assessments and social distancing measures being approved.
