Croxley Green FC (CGFC) have announced the further growth of the club with the merger of Croxley Community Centre FC with CGFC ahead of the 2021-2022 season.
CGFC which was relaunched in 2014 has focussed on the vision of “Football for All” which continues as they welcome a further adult team and two Veterans teams to the club.
Since relaunching the CGFC have prioritised building of the youth section, albeit two years ago CGFC established it’s their first adult team who won the Senior Charity West Herts Cup last season.
Richard New, chairman of Croxley Green FC said this announcement will help the club continue its “Football for All” vision.
He said: “This amalgamation truly now delivers the club’s vision that it set out in 2014 by now providing football from Under 5 all the way up to Age 50.
“This will mean that Croxley Green FC has grown from 250 players and 20 teams in 2014 to now over 600 players, across over 40 teams with c 1500 parents/supporters/members.”
Richard added that this isn’t the end of the progression at the club as they work to find a facility they can call home.
He said: “Whilst we should all be hugely proud of the progress and successful growth of our club, one area that continually significantly hinders the progression of our local club is the lack of a fully operational facility that we can call our own home, which again will allow the club to continue to prosper.
CGFC have had positive discussions with local District Councillors who wish to support them in finding a permanent ground. One site CGFC are keen to explore the viability of, is the old Durrants School playing fields (site PCS49), a site not taken forward in the draft Local Plan.
CGFC will be responding to the draft Local Plan consultation that TRDC and HCC should put this site forward with a sports facility provision.
