Pupils at a school in Northwood are celebrating after achieving their GCSE results this morning (August 25).
Year 11 students at St Helen’s School were delighted with their results with 42 per cent of all grades awarded grade 9s, more than 70 per cent were grades 9-8 and just under 90 per cent were grades 9-7. Fifty-two per cent of Year 11 students achieved all grades 9-7, which is the equivalent to all As and A*s.
Alice Lucas, headteacher, said: “The girls have worked so hard over the past two years in what have really been very challenging and unsettling circumstances. These impressive results are testament to their work ethic, resilience, and of course, to the support, dedication and expertise of their first-class teachers. While we should absolutely celebrate these grades and the girls’ achievements, these results are only one part of each pupil’s journey at St Helen’s.
“As head, I am immensely proud of the fact that our students achieve as highly as they do whilst also embracing the range of co-curricular opportunities on offer and contributing to the community through charitable projects and volunteering.
“With these results under their belt, I am optimistic and excited to see what this cohort will go on to achieve in the Sixth Form, but I am equally excited to watch the girls continue to develop into confident, kind, socially aware members of society, and well-rounded individuals.”
