The Florist in Watford have donated £4,000 to Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust that was raised by its customers over the last few months.
Watford FC fan favourites Adrian Mariappa and Lloyd Doyley visited the restaurant in February to accept the cheque.
The Florist Watford’s general manager, David Morbin, spoke to MyWatfordNews about why the chose to donate it to the football club’s trust.
He said: “When we opened The Florist, as a team we looked into who we could help as a business and immediately fell in love with the community trust.
“Every person I’ve had contact with over there has been incredible, nothing has ever been too much and they’ve been fantastic since our relationship started.”
David stressed the importance for The Florist to support charities where they can and thanked its customers for donating.
He said: “It’s so important, as a company we’re encouraged to get involved with community to see where we can help. For me personally, it’s an honour to have the chance to be involved with such a fantastic cause.
“We took this challenge on and wanted to raise as much money as possible but never anticipated we would get to £4,000.
“It’s all thanks to the generous people that have visited The Florist over the last 10 months, we really couldn’t do it without them, and we won’t stop there. There’s a lot more to come.”
David and his fellow staff members will also be going to Watford against Leicester City in the Premier League on March 14 to present the cheque pitch side.
