The first Watford Together Quiz Night hosted by the Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor and Watford FC legend, Luther Blissett on Sunday 19 April raised over £1,000 for local charities as eager quizzers were put to the test.

The quiz was created as part of the exciting new initiative, ‘#WatfordTogether’, where all the town’s arts, entertainment, heritage and cultural organisations are working together, by using their creative talents, to help people in the town through the coronavirus pandemic.

Over 200 people took part in the quiz and the due to success of the event, Watford Together will now be doing a virtual roadshow with weekly trivia sessions hosted by different charities to help raise awareness of the amazing work they are doing for the town.

The Mayor will be doing a follow up quiz with Luther Blissett and special guests from across the town this Sunday at 8:00 PM.

They will include Electric Umbrella, a local charity who provide music opportunities for adults with learning difficulties.

The money raised from the quiz will go to a community fund created in partnership with Watford and Three Rivers Trust (W3RT) to support the fantastic charities involved in the COVID-19 relief effort in the town.

To donate, visit mywellbeing.community/covid19-appeal or text WATFORD to 70331 (£3).

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “I’m so grateful to all people in our town who have donated during our quiz last week. These funds will go directly to local charities who are on the frontline during this crisis, providing support for the most vulnerable.

“I’m really excited to be joined by Electric Umbrella and Mark Bonnar, star of The Quiz, to put people through their paces, have some friendly rivalry and raise money for such an important cause.”

#WatfordTogether is getting people creative, active or arty with a range of cultural activities, events and competitions, giving people plenty to do that will keep them both physically and mentally active as well as providing opportunities to connect with others who share similar interests and pastimes.
