An administrative assistant at RMBI Care Co. has run her first London Marathon to raise funds for Dementia UK.
Caroline Page, who works at the Prince Michael of Kent Court branch in Watford, hoped to raise £1,000 for Dementia UK. By the conclusion of her marathon, she had more than trebled this figure, raising over £3,000.
She finished the marathon in under seven hours. This was labelled a “great achievement considering the hot weather”.
She said: “The marathon was the most challenging thing that I have done! The hot weather made it harder than I had anticipated but I pushed through with the cheers from the crowds. It was a very emotional day hearing everyone’s stories and the reasons why they were running.
“I chose to raise funds for Dementia UK as the issue is close to my heart working at the care home and it gave me the opportunity to do something positive to help the families and individuals on their dementia journey.”
The care home residents tracked her progress during the day and were delighted to see her crossing the finish line.
