‘GOOD TIMES’: Dedicated St Albans football club secretary steps down after 40 years

St Albans City FC’s club secretary has stepped down after 40 years of unwavering service.

Leigh Page first started following the club in 1980 and began helping out on matchdays in 1985. Leigh was then asked to join the club’s committee, and since then, he has taken on a variety of different roles for the club.

His highlights include the FA Trophy semi-final and the big FA Cup days at Clarence Park, as well as the continued growth of the club’s community.

Speaking to St Albans City FC, Leigh said: “In June last year, I let the leadership team at the club know that I would have to start thinking about changing my levels of involvement at the club due to changes in my personal life and family. Since then, I have moved away from St Albans, and it’s great to be handing over to Tony, who I know will drive the club to the next level and build on what has been achieved here, especially over the past six years.

“I would like to thank John and Lawrence for the support they have shown, through the good and tougher times.

“Although I am stepping down from the active involvement I have had at the club after 40 years, I won’t be far away. I’ll still be at matchdays, following the Saints home and away, and supporting the club and its community section where I can.

“This football club is special, and it’s the community that makes St Albans City FC such a pleasure to have been involved with over the years.”

A spokesperson for the club said: “Leigh, on behalf of everyone at the club, thank you for your dedication, passion, and countless contributions over the years.”
