GOOD NEWS: Community helps secure court order on anti-social house in Rickmansworth

Published on: 27th June 2021   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

An anti-social household in Mill End, Rickmansworth that has caused significant nuisance to neighbours has been given a closure order by magistrates after action was taken by Three Rivers’ Community Safety Partnership.

The household has been the subject of multiple complaints from members of the public who reported suspected drug use, drug dealing and noise disturbance, as well as people frequently visiting the house and arguing.

The closure order means that no visitors are allowed to enter the property for the next three months, except emergency services or maintenance contractors with prior permission from the police. Anyone who breaches the order could now face a fine and/or jail sentence.

Three Rivers’ Community Safety Partnership presented evidence at St Albans Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, June 23 2021, to successfully secure the order.

Concillor Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, one of the partnership agencies, said the willingness of people in the community to speak out and provide evidence was crucial to secure the order.

She said: “Anti-social behaviour has a massive impact on local communities. We have seen an increase in the number of reports from residents in the district about anti-social behaviour which reflects a greater awareness amongst communities and a desire to work together to stamp it out.

“We will do everything we can to help and support people affected by anti-social behaviour. We very much value our close working relationship with all our partners in the Community Safety Partnership and know that these positive results provide a good precedent for future partnership working.”

Anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour can call the non-emergency number 101, or, if a crime or anti-social behaviour is in progress, dial 999.
