Nicholas Buxton has been formerly appointed the new High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, a position which he will hold for the next year.
The Office of High Sheriff is an independent non-political Royal appointment, which dates back to Saxon times, when the ‘Shire Reeve’ was responsible to the king for the maintenance of law and order within the shire.
Their main role is to support the number of the services and charities in Hertfordshire, which currently number over 4,000, to help the most vulnerable in the community.
He takes the role on from his predecessor Annie Brewster JP , who served from 2024-2025.
In a post on Facebook, Annie Brewster JP shared: “As I pass the Hertfordshire High Sheriff Sword to Nicholas Buxton of Wareside, I would like to thank everyone for your wonderful support throughout my Shrieval year. Good luck Nicholas … you will be brilliant!”.
High Sheriff Nicholas Buxton will adopt the theme ‘Nurture through Nature’ through his shrieval year.
