A Hatch End resident has raised more than £2,000 after hosting a successful picnic event.
Shilpi Goel, teamed up with her friends Bindiya Kejdiwal and Avisha Shah, to raise money for YoungMinds, to invite the local neighbourhood to a picnic and open-air cinema event.
Held at Shaftesbury Playing Fields on May 14, the event featured bouncy slides, food stalls, stalls ran by pupils from Grimsdyke School and an open-air cinema.
The event raised £2,700 for the charity with hopes launched to make the event an annual occurrence.
Speaking to PinnerNews, Shilpi said the vent was a huge success and will be working with councillors and the local community to make the event an annual fixture.
She said: “It went very well, there were a lot of people who came along. The main thing was the school kids that put on charity stalls, local councillors were talking to them and they could tell they were very appreciative.
“We raised £533 just from the kids charity stalls.”
