A Garston intercontinental boxing champion avenged her only professional defeat in a British title fight against a fierce competitor.
Shannon Ryan, managed by BXG and sponsored by O2, has fought in 12 professional fights, with her one loss inflicted by Emma Dolan by decision two years ago.
However, on October 24 the 29-year-old – who is currently the IBF Intercontinental and Commonwealth Champion at super flyweight – returned to the ring against Dolan to stop her emphatically in the opening round.
After the win at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, she said: “I’m over the moon. Two and a half years that’s been. I just feel so free and at peace now. When I lost that fight, I knew what I needed to change, and I proved that tonight.”
With her existing honours to defend and the British title also at stake, Ryan raced to victory in just 46 seconds of round one.
This was Ryan’s fifth consecutive win on stage, with three of them coming by way of knockout.
Organised by heavyweight promoter Eddie Hearn, the new British title holder fought on the undercard for the Dalton Smith vs Alberto Puello main event bout.
The boxer said she had “righted a wrong” and is now lined up to fight for a world title in the New Year.
