Abbots Langley Parish Council (ALPC) has put forward plans to replace the old changing rooms at Primrose Hill with a new community hall.
The building on the west side of Primrose Hill Playing Fields became redundant due to a recurring mole infestation and is now in a state of significant deterioration.
Posting on their website, ALPC explained: “The structure is compromised by overgrowth that has encroached into the building and graffiti covers parts of the building, further contributing to its neglected appearance. As it stands, the facility offers no benefit to the community and is a waste of valuable land.
“A demolition and redevelopment of the site would allow for something that better serves the needs of the community and makes more productive use of the space.”
ALPC is proposing to replace the building with a new community hall which would be available to rent for various community events. It would include a disabled access toilet, storage space, and kitchen.
The council added: “The goal of any proposal would be to give back to the community by creating a space that can host a wide range of activities, from social events to educational programs, and serve as a hub for local groups and organisations. It would offer a much-needed, accessible facility for everyone in the area, contributing to the vibrancy and wellbeing of the community as a whole.”
