Several Hemel Hempstead-based Girlguiding volunteers have earned awards for their dedication to the organisation.
Hemel’s top Girlguiding volunteers were recently invited to a county awards afternoon to receive their awards, presented to them by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Janie Wentworth-Stanley.
Karen Dance received the prestigious Girlguiding Hertfordshire Good Guiding Award for organising Guiding across Hemel Hempstead.
A spokesperson for Girlguiding Hertfordshire said: “Despite having a very demanding job, it does not stop Karen from volunteering and she is always there for anyone, providing unfaltering support to those around her.”
Karen said: “Supporting girls is extremely rewarding; they are inspirational young people who have so much to offer. I enjoy watching them blossom into amazing young ladies who are a credit to their community.”
Also awarded were Elaine Simmonds, Maureen Fitzgibbons and Karen Armstrong for 30 and 40 years of service respectively.
Pam Boughton was presented with a Good Guiding Award, and Rebecca Stevens received her Queen’s Guide Award.
