Officers caught a pair of shoplifters who tried to escape on a train at Chorleywood Station earlier this month.
On Saturday, January 4, Three Rivers Police revealed that they had received a report of a shoplift from a local supermarket in Rickmansworth. Officers from Three Rivers Police and the Neighbourhood Police Team worked quickly together to locate four suspects.
They were told by a member of the public that the suspects had caught a train towards Chesham.
A spokesperson from the police posted on social media: “Unfortunately for the shoplifters, the getaway train didn’t help their escape. Officers arrived at Chorleywood Train Station, where they noticed two females matching the description of two of the suspects with a large amount of alcohol and various meat products in the bag.
“A further area search was conducted and the outstanding suspects were located nearby. Unfortunately for the offenders, their New Year’s Eve party plans were ruined as police recovered the stolen products valued at over £500. The products were then returned to the store.
“We will continue to work to prevent retail crime in Three Rivers.”
