Kings Langley Cricket Club have pulled off quite a coup in signing Sir Ian Botham to come to the village and give a talk on the Ashes on Friday, June 23.
The club had planned to run an Ashes-themed event, but never thought we would be able to attract the man that many people consider England’s finest-ever cricketer. However, connections from the village that stretched as far as Australia put us in touch with him and the great man has agreed to come.
The event will be held in the theatre at the Rudolf Steiner School on Langley Hill and Sir Ian will be joined by former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie. MC for the evening will be former Middlesex and England player John Embury.
June 23 is just between the first and second test matches of this year’s Ashes, so the timing of the event should be ideal.
The club hopes that the evening will be an informative and entertaining mix of stories and views from some true greats of the game.
You can book tickets for the event here.
