The parents of children at two schools in Croxley Green have teamed up to host a treasure hunt with the aim of boosting the morale of the community.
Together the Friends of Malvern Way Infant School and the Friends of Little Green Junior School have set up a treasure hunt around the village which will provide families with some fun and excitement whilst out on their daily walks.
Catherine Hutchinson helped to set up the treasure hunt and said that it is designed for everyone, helping the community come together in a socially distanced way.
She said: “We were sitting thinking about what we could do that involves the children but is socially distanced and came up with this.
“What is nice is that we’ve got some of the local businesses involved, the idea was really to try and get a sense of community while we are all a bit locked in.”
Catherine said that children follow a trail round the village looking out for clues and letters on windows that at the end will spell out a phrase.
She said: “There are three routes, two routes are quite short and aimed at nursery children and another five-mile route which winds round the village.
“The clues are up in windows, everyone involved has a letter which are in the same format so everyone knows what they are looking for.”
The treasure hunt which plans to stay active until the children go back to school has been popular so far.
Catherine said: “A lot of people that have come past and chatted to us have said it’s nice as it’s giving them a purpose to their walks.”
Once the phrase is complete it can be emailed to exhibition@malvernway.herts.sch.uk for a chance of winning a voucher.
