A fifth court has opened at Chalfont St Peter Tennis Club (CSPTC), which will be dedicated to junior tennis and the rapidly growing sport of pickleball.
At the grand opening on Saturday, June 17, members of the club and representatives from the Lawn Tennis Association and parish council came together to celebrate the new addition.
As a junior court, the new facility will benefit the club’s increasing number of youth players.
Pickleball is a sport that is becoming increasingly popular in both the US and the UK. Described as a cross between tennis, ping pong and badminton, the sport is played with a modified tennis net and a badminton-sized court.
The ball is small and plastic with holes in it, and paddles are used in place of rackets. It can be played with either two or four players.
As well as the new court, CSPTC have landscaped the surrounding walking paths so that they are more accessible for the many dog walkers who use them.
