GAME OFF: Hemel Town progress in FA Cup after Boston United have positive COVID-19 test

Published on: 12th October 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Hemel Hempstead Town F.C

Hemel Hempstead Town FC are through to the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round after their scheduled Third Qualifying Round opponents, Boston United, had a positive coronavirus case within their club.

As a result, Boston United have had to forfeit the tie, meaning the Tudors are now just one game away from the FA Cup First Round Proper.

The Tudors released a statement on their website this afternoon, which read: “As has been reported in the media and through the official channels of Boston United, they are currently observing the government guidelines around self-isolation, after a positive case within their club.

“Because of this, we have today been in dialogue with Boston United regarding tomorrow evening’s FA Cup Third Qualifying Round tie. Based on guidance from The FA and the National League Medical Team, all Boston United players and staff have been advised to self-isolate for a period of two weeks. As a result of this, tomorrow’s game has been called off.”

Despite it not being the way Hemel would have wanted to qualify for the next round of the famous competition, they now have a Fourth Qualifying Round tie to look forward to, which is scheduled for October 24.

The draw for the next round will take place on TalkSport 2 on Thursday.
