Staff at The Lodge Care Home in Hemel Hempstead are working hard to ensure residents’ spirits are always high in these difficult times.
They are organising many fun activities at the home and making sure residents still see their families remotely.
Sarah Beck, engagement lead at The Lodge Care Home, said: “Keeping residents happy and occupied is a key role in my job.
“We enjoy lots of fun activities such as our pub nights every other Thursday, in which we have themes from cheese and wine night to curry night.
“Also music is important, we love good old pub songs in which we can sing along to. Another favourite is card bingo.
“We have a residents’ meeting each month going over what we have done and what we would like to do so the residents always have their say in what we are doing.
“We do all these activities and more so the residents feel valued and we can keep their minds occupied and to make friends and conversations.”
Sarah also mentioned residents are using iPad to keep in touch with their families.
She added: “Yes they miss their families but with FaceTime and Zoom, we keep in contact with them. They know when I’m coming with the iPad we will be seeing their family members.”
