From football finals to Missouri, USA

Watford has seen an amazing success story for local student athletes in the Watford FC Westfield Football Academy by winning the National Football Youth League.

The 2018/2019 students enrolled at Westfield Academy on the Watford Football Club Football and Education Programme completed their season in the final league game against West Ham at Vicarage Road, winning 6-3.

This followed a great season playing against teams such as Crystal Palace, Southampton, Chelsea, Everton, Northampton, Portsmouth, Fulham and Tottenham.

Included in the squad was Rickmansworth athlete Adam Fowler – who has been offered a place in the USA at Culver Stockton to continue to progress his “soccer” career and to study a degree in Sports Management.

Adam has been combining his BTEC studies alongside training with UEFA Qualified coaches from Watford FC every day – playing against other pro clubs. This hard work and lifestyle has given him a glimpse of what to expect when playing “across the pond”.
