A woman whose son died from meningitis at just 10 months old and her friend are to run the London Marathon next month in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation.
Karen Blunden and Justine Ware will be pounding the streets of the capital on April 22 to raise money for the charity which provides life-saving information and funds research into the disease.
On her JustGiving page, Karen said she has always wanted to do something to raise money for the charity.
She said: “For years I couldn’t even bear to hear the word meningitis without wanting to lay down and cry. But I am now determined to do this and raise money. Justine and I have started training. Our lovely friend Donna did this last year for meningitis and gave us the nudge to do it. “
